Races

Quick jump:

Sevan

Other Names: Sevan, Ei-va(an ancient term). Various other words in the scattered languages in the pre Sdrawkcab times.
Primary Home: Seva. There aren't many populations of Sevans in other places, however individuals might live in various places throughout the galaxy. There are probably more Sevans in space (spacecraft, bases, Etc) than making permanent residence on Yrekcom or Doporhtra. Over half of the remaining emmigrants live in places other than Yrekcom and Doporhtra, and the remainder is mostly found on Yrekcom (See Doporhtra for an explanation).
Sub-races: The physical races among Sevans are similar to those found among Earthlings. With a history that is a bit less economically oriented, the distribution of these races geographically is smaller. The local racial diversity is probably most common in the northeastern continent, as travel has been historically easier between the northeast and the south.
Description: The defining features of the Sevans are their feathers as opposed to hair, found primarily on the head and in slivers over the eyes (eyebrows). Sevans tend to be comparatively light (part of the whole bird-like thing). Externally, there aren't many other differences between Sevans and Earthlings. (Comparative research on internal differences hasn't been done extensively, seeing as obtaining earthling subjects would require consent from the subject.)
Historically, Sevans have been seen as the peaceful people. Although there are and have been various cultures among the Sevans, the dominating theme has been the utter foolishness of taking lives. Seva has played host to one major conflict in its past, the resolution of which has led to a more unified view of social structure.

Doporhtran

Other Names: Doporhtran; Dopohrtre; Dop-har; "Grim-faces" (when first contacting the Sevans, they were sometimes called this due to the limited range of facial expressions of the explorers.)
Primary Home: Doporhtrans originate from Doporhtra, but many have set up colonies and habitations elsewhere. They are not uncommon on Seva and other fruitful planets. Doporhtrans are historically the first space-fairing people in Esrevni, and have thus established many homes and bases off world.
Sub-races: There are many sub-races of Doporhtrans:
  • Nemi-doin: biologically tending toward order and historically oriented toward large organized groups. Physically defined by very sharp muscular structure without added mass, the most solid, contour-challenged faces, smaller ears and noses, and some sharp definition of joints (but of course, nothing incredibly inhuman), and antennae mounted near the front of the cranium. Historically the first space travelers.
  • Pidto-doin: Typically rather light, with chitin/skin divisions more defined. Tend to have antennae mounted to the left and right of the center of their head. They may have wings, though for modern adaptations they are rarely necessary and usually don't appear or don't grow when they do. The Pidto wings are characterized as being translucent, connected from the upperback, and usually petal-shaped (fly-like wings).
  • Ga-doin: The least common Doporhtran race. Ga-doin are easily identified by having bright colors (or multiple colors and patterns) in their chiten (More common on the eyebrow-esque areas than the scalp). The chiten over the cranium tends to be much flatter (not contour different from the surrounding areas) and covers more area (farther down the forehead, to the back of the neck and at times down the sides of the face). The antennae usually grow at a wide angle from the center of the head, to the left and right, and usually don't get very long. They tend to remain very stiff when short, but become more flemsy if they grow to certain lengths (the length at which the body switches to flemsy mode depends on the height of the person). Da-doin are also the Doporhtrans most likely to have wings, though they usually stay small and haven't been reported to support flight since 1813, when a child was able to stay airborn at an altitude of under a meter for thirty seconds. (The wings were rather large and would later have to be surgically diminished). Most Ga-wings are taller than they are wide, often times not extending far enough from the body to be visible from the front. They have been recorded with heights as small as three inches (and a width of half an inch), and as large as 6"3 (with a width of about 4"5 from one wing to the other). They are usually anchored by one side, so move only back/forward (Bird/butterfly like). The wings can be colorful, but with their modern decline are usually the same color as the bearer's eyebrows. )).
  • Elo-doin: Very common, though less densely populated than Nemi-doin. Characterized by very thick, tough chitin (sometimes the chitin/skin mix can be more chitin.). Antennae are usually near the sides and further back on the head and have limited motion, sometimes bearing more cone or horn-like shapes. Usually larger facial features (other than ears), and a broader skeletal structure.
  • Nara-doin: Sometimes lacking antennae altogether; if they are present, they're usually near the lower bounds of the scalp chitin (near the ears). Extremities tend to be more "pointy", narrowing more as they approach the fingertips or toes. Nara-doin are the most likely group to have extra limbs. In most cases that they are allowed to grow, these range from half the size to a little bigger than the primary limbs. In most cases these are arms, since modern circumstances make added legs more of an inconvenience than anything. (Extra arms are usually divided into three types: undeveloped, partial, and syncranized. Undeveloped arms usually don't get very large (but can), and don't show much muscular development. Some of these have been as small as fingers at birth and stayed as small throughout life. Partials aren't identified until adulthood, since they stop growing around physical maturation. Syncranized arms grow along with the primaries, although not necessarily as large depending on usage and some other internal factors.). Nara-doin usually have some random chiten patches at varying points on their body (usually a good means of identifying heritige), and tend to have broader jaws (though there are many with more normal jaws). There is a large diversity in the placement of the eyes, further dividing the group. )).
Description: Generally, Doporhtrans are easy to identify due to the fact that the chitin that replaces hair on their heads and eyes is mixed (in varying proportions) with the softer skin material around their bodies. This allows more durability and resistance to external forces while still allowing some flexibility. The vast majority of Doporhtrans (other than many Nara-doin) have antennae, which retain a strong ability to sense vibrations and, in some instances, chemicals (For the most part the level of sensativity varies. Chemical awareness is a declining trait and is most common among Nemi-doin. The relative sensativity of the antennae can be developed or allowed to declining by use, attention, exercise, just as any physical ability.).
Since the outer covering of Doporhtrans tends to be thick, internal structure tends to be more acommodating. The ability to use the chitin/skin for anchorage makes bones much smaller in Doporhtrans, while muscle structure is more complicated to better control the system.

Yrekcom

Other Names: Ihrekm (native name)
Yrekcom (adopted upon joining Esrevni's galactic alliance)
Ai-Hrekem, a rare term used when the people were first discovered by others in Esrevni.
Rekomi, Ircom, Ihrekmi, Reptilian- general terms used by various cultures.
Primary Home: Yrekcom, or Ihrekm. The dominant species on the planet for millennia. Government structure and social climates limited space exploration to areas very close to the planet until the Seva-Yrekcom conflict. After joining the galactic alliance and receiving a technological overhall, the space program began to expand with aid from Seva. In modern times, Yrekcom people are spread out throughout the inhabitable areas of Esrevni, but remain primarily on Yrekcom. The most common off-world homes are found on Seva and planets in the home system.
Sub-races: With globalization and large amounts of expansion, racial divides among the people of Yrekcom have become much less distinct. Most people are a blend of the races of old, while a few minorities are still identifiable.
Races are usually defined by the size, texture, and location of scales, along with the skin tone and arrangement of eyes and noses. Generally these tend to be associated together, hence why they qualify as racial classification.
Among the dominating races of the old-times were the smooth-scaled (Scales usually continuing down the neck and partially down the forehead and face, eyes very slanted, and skin tones remaining somewhere between cream and burnt... known for a high awareness of vibrations from the surroundings, so this ability is sometimes culturally considered a means of gauging the origins of an individual);
The broad-scaled (Usually large and leathery, sometimes mossy-like scales that tend to cascade over the sides of the cranium and leave rather flat or sloping arrangements at the top of the scalp.), and various other arrangements.
The smooth-scaleds have mainly been absorbed into other races over the years, but influences are usually detectible. Further racial divisions are rare in modern times.
Description: The Yrekcom people are defined mainly by their scalp scales and their tendency toward cold-bloodedness. While there is a limited control over internal body temperatures, Yrekcom people are more susceptible to external temperatures. Typically the heart of an Yrekcom person is four-chambered, though the three-chambered version among smaller reptiles occasionally shows up (this is considered genetic and can lead to some physical conditions.). Generally any three-chambered people will be more cold-blooded than the majority of the population.
