[ INT. ISDA BREAKROOM - DAY. : Close shot of the table; a half-empty roll of papertowels and an unmarked, red bottle are visible on it. ]
[ A blue-gloved fist with a red band at the wrist slams onto the table, causing the papertowel roll and bottle to wobble violently. ]
[ Mid shot. Black Eagle stands in front of the table with a frustrated expression on his face. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
Two completely separate freaks in the mountains. Eoce. All those terrorists we trapped in Egypt. All of Kimal's people we chased to Mexico. And how many times has Fieron escaped us?
[ Wise shot. Glacier stands in the corner opposite the door, hands at his sides. Theracy sits in the chair farthest from the door, her legs pulled up into it as though she is trying to get as far into the chair as possible. BB15 sits in the other chair stoicly. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
We gathered all the super-powered people we could find; we've got a girl who can see things anywhere on the planet, and a guy who can intercept radio signals and see through walls... and we still only ever caught a couple of idiots on a plane!
BB15:
Your team did chase Kimal's people out of their comfort zone, Erny. And you get closer to Fieron every time you meet. Give 'em some time; they haven't gone through the training that we did, and Fieron got away from us.
[ Black Eagle breathes heavily and frustratedly. ]
THERACY:
Every time I get close to Fieron, someone tells me to look at something else.
BLACK EAGLE:
And with that nut-job who can turn light to gamma rays running loose, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. Fieron's been running loose for a year and a half, and we don't have anything to show for ourselves in that time!
[ Black Eagle turns to walk toward the door. ]
BB15:
Where're you going?
BLACK EAGLE:
Speed training. I'm sick of being outflown by Fieron.
[ INT. CAFE - DAY. : There is one person standing on either side of the counter opposite the door. A disorganized bunch of tables, chairs and benches fills the right half of the room; a man with thinning gray hair sits at one table near the front of the roomm. A teenaged boy with a brown mullet (reference episode 4) sits alone with a stack of waffles and bacon toward the back of the tables. Wind, Hydron (both in casual atire) and Aluben sit at a table on the inner edge of the table-maze. Wind holds a tall coffeecup, and a small light-brown sack sits in front of Aluben. ]
[ Aluben pulls a donut hole from the sack and quickly eats it. ]
WIND:
So are those good, Aluben?
ALUBEN:
They're very good; what are they called?
WIND:
They're donut holes. Would you like some more?
[ Aluben takes another donuthole from the sack. ]
ALUBEN:
I normally don't eat much; it seems a bad idea.
WIND:
You can save them for later.
ALUBEN:
Well...
WIND:
I'll get some for you!
[ Wind sets her cup on the table and gets up. The person at the counter turns and leaves carrying a sack like Aluben's. Before Wind reaches the counter, Roblin (reference episode 2) enters, eyelids drooping and face pasty and pale. Wind notices him and stops to let him pass. ]
CASHEER:
Morning, Roblin. Vanilla laté?
ROBLIN (tired):
Please.
[ The teenager at the back looks toward the counter. The casheer hands Roblin a tall cup. Roblin places a five dollar bill on the counter and turns to walk toward the bench farthest from the door. Wind approaches the counter and picks up a sack from a rack beside it. ]
CASHEER:
Can I help you?
WIND:
Just some of these.
[ The teenager, hereafter Niryc, looks toward Roblin. ]
NIRYC (muttering somewhat loudly):
Sounds familiar.
[ Hydron glances at Niryc, then Roblin, then looks back to Aluben. ]
ALUBEN:
Are you not hungry?
HYDRON:
I ate before Sara woke up.
ALUBEN:
Where are the men that were with you before?
HYDRON:
Spectro has class today. I don't know about Charles.
[ Wind returns and sits down, sliding the sack toward Aluben. ]
WIND:
Charles had work.
ALUBEN:
What sort of work?
[ INT. GARAGE - DAY. : Gravitor, in a neutral-colored department store uniform, lightly tosses a large box out of a large trailer and onto a trolley sitting at the bottom of a concrete ramp leading toward a wide, open door into a dimly lit room. Two other men in similar uniforms are pulling boxes from the trailer with considerably more effort; one of them looks at Gravitor uneasily. ]
GRAVITOR:
Don't lift it so high; you'll hurt your back.
OLDY:
Don't mind Chuck; he's got a talent for not breaking things.
NEWBY:
Did you see how he threw that box?
OLDY:
Yeah. I see it all the time. It's like the boxes are lighter for him, or something.
[ Gravitor grins and goes back for another box. ]
[ INT. CAFE - DAY. : Niryc's food is gone, leaving only a greasy piece of paper. ]
[ Niryc crumples up the paper in his fist and gets up, looks around, then awkwardly moves toward Roblin's bench. ]
WIND:
It sounds easy for him, but he doesn't seem too happy. He says he's been looking at getting into construction. It all sounds pretty intense for me.
HYDRON:
I think he likes doing things outside.
ALUBEN:
Is it warm where he lives?
WIND:
I don't know. I know there's desert near there... but I'm not sure what part of the state he lives in.
[ Niryc sits on the end of the bench where Roblin sits, though shows no sign that he intends to speak. Roblin glances at him, then looks back to his cup. ]
NIRYC:
Didn't you used to meet a woman in here?
ROBLIN:
Are you talking to me?
NIRYC:
Yes.
ROBLIN:
I don't remember ever seeing you in here before.
NIRYC:
I don't see why you would.
ROBLIN:
I always pay attention to who's around when I'm meeting people.
NIRYC:
Ah, makes sense.
ROBLIN:
But maybe I've forgotten more than I realized. Gosh, it's been over a year...
NIRYC:
So you aren't meeting anyone today?
ROBLIN:
I haven't been meeting anyone for over a year. Except my lawyer.
[ Niryc nods. ]
NIRYC:
I see. So is the woman in jail?
ROBLIN:
I don't think that's any of your business, kid.
NIRYC:
I guess it isn't.
[ Wind looks down at her cup. ]
WIND:
Well, you want to go somewhere else? There's an amazing chocolate store we can walk to from here.
ALUBEN:
This is enough sweet food for now.
WIND:
Noone said you have to buy anything.
[ Wind gets up. ]
WIND (cont'd):
Come on; what else are we gonna do today?
[ Aluben looks around nervously, then slowly gets up. Hydron stands as well, and the three walk toward the front of the cafe. ]
[ EXT. STOREFRONT - DAY. : As Wind, Hydron and Aluben walk by, a growl comes from an alcove near the entrance of a store, and Fierox peers out after them. ]
[ INT. DORMROOM - DAY. : The room looks roughly the same as in episode 9. ]
[ The door opens, and Spectro (wearing a blue, light hoody) walks in, carrying a laptop. He walks to the desk and sets the laptop down, then pulls a celular phone from his pocket and raises it to look at it. He presses a few buttons. ]
BB14 (over phone):
Hey, it's Fourteen. Someone wants to talk to you.
[ The phone beeps and Spectro puts it back in his pocket. ]
SPECTRO:
Couldn't it wait until tomorrow?
[ Spectro walks to the window. The blinds are down, though as he approaches, they disappear, and Spectro looks out. ]
[ INT. PRISON - DIM. : Hoita paces her cell anxiously, her head lowered as though in thought. ]
GUARD (off screen):
Visitors, Doctor.
[ The guard steps into view, followed by Spectro and BB14. Hoita looks up, but her gaze darkens when she sees BB14. ]
HOITA:
I want to see him alone.
BB14:
I'm not convinced that's safe, Hoita.
[ Hoita crosses her arms. ]
HOITA:
Alone.
SPECTRO:
Don't... worry.
[ A celphone ring is heard. BB14 reaches for his badge. ]
SPECTRO:
Really.
[ BB14 looks at Spectro, then his hand, then smirks. ]
BB14:
Fine. Play nicely.
[ BB14 walks out of sight. ]
SPECTRO:
I hope you don't want me to show you holograms.
HOITA:
Not unless you're willing. What exactly did Eoce do once he had you in his world?
SPECTRO:
What?
HOITA:
Eoce wouldn't let me into his world. He must have had a good reason to drag you and your coworkers there.
SPECTRO:
I haven't been there. I only saw a picture of Eoce.
[ Hoita frowns. ]
HOITA:
Is that so? I was told that Eoce took people through a portal. And by how that idiot questioner acted, I think they could do impressive things.
SPECTRO:
What if they can?
HOITA:
Eoce was never clear about what he wanted. But cosmology interested him. He also hated the restrictions of the human body. That suit he wore takes care of his physical needs so he can focus on his work. I should think that if the people he snatched were worth his time and effort, then there must be something special about them.
SPECTRO:
He tried to kill them.
HOITA:
If the body could make light obey it, it is worth researching alive or dead. What was special about those that Eoce took? I thought it unlikely that they could manipulate gravity, but after seeing you, I'm not so sure. That is a power Eoce would kill to have.
SPECTRO:
I'm not sure I should tell you anything.
[ Hoita nods. ]
HOITA:
So one of them can control gravity. What about matter creation?
SPECTRO:
What good to you are these questions?
HOITA:
Now, now, don't you think Eoce is worth understanding? Fourteen certainly does. Perhaps I can conclude something new with more information.
SPECTRO:
And so can we.
HOITA:
Hah! If that were true, they wouldn't keep questioning me. I'm a scientist. I knew Eoce better than anyone--and that's saying something. Perhaps I can put together pieces that the rest of you can't.
SPECTRO:
You sound desperate to help us. I don't know, I'm not sure I'm buying it.
HOITA:
Fine. But unless they saw Eoce die, he'll keep working. Nothing else seems to matter to him. There's been enough time for him to rebuild. You can expect something from him soon. Maybe I could help you with that if I had all the data.
SPECTRO:
Another time.
HOITA:
Fine. I'll be here.
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - DAY. : A dark figure flies through the air, landing atop one of the stepped sections of the tower's lower ten stories. ]
[ EXT. ROOF - DAY. : Fieron looks down on the city below. ]
FIERON:
What need is there for a building this size?
GUARD2 (OS):
Hey!
[ A pair of armed security guards approach Fieron. ]
GUARD2:
Sir, all visitors must check in at a security checkpoint.
FIERON:
Ah, well, then I don't mean to bother you. Good day, gentlemen.
[ Fieron steps toward the edge of the roof. ]
GUARD2:
Sir! Please step back from that ledge; we'll escort you--
[ Fieron jumps and falls groundward, a net of blue sparks appearing around him as he falls. ]
[ EXT. ENTRANCE - SEARS TOWER - DAY. : A pair of security guards make their way through civilians and toward the street. ]
GUARD3:
Please clear the area!
[ Above, a streak of blue sparks descends toward the street, then its path arches to the south and it finally streaks out of sight. ]
[ INT. ISDA BREAKROOM - DAY. : Everyone that was previously present is in the same location, other than Black Eagle; everyone but Glacier seems considerably more relaxed. ]
[ The TV briefly cracks with static; Theracy looks up, startled. The ISDAChairman's face appears on the television screen. ]
ISDACHAIRMAN (over TV):
Fieron has been spotted flying south from the Sears tower.
[ The screen changes to show an aerial view of Chicago. ]
THERACY:
Here we go again...
[ Theracy closes her eyes. Fade to white. ]
[ Fade to EXT. FIELD - BEHIND BUILDING - DAY. : Two streaks of sparks, one blue and the other gold, bolt into view, stopping in the middle of the field. ]
[ the sparks fade and reveal Fieron and Fierox. Fieron inhales deeply, then exhales. Fierox lightly paws Fieron's leg. ]
FIERON:
I wonder what they've gotten out of Dr. Nono. Perhaps she knows more about Eoce than I do...
[ Fieron pulls down the cloth from his nose and mouth, though he still looks down and his face is hidden by his hood. ]
FIERON:
Perhaps it would be safer to go alone next time. We don't need you getting shot again.
[ Fieron looks up. His face can be seen beneath his head, and it is that of Niryc. ]
FIERON:
They burned a neighborhood just to catch me. I don't know what they wouldn't do. Hmmph... cowards.
[ Fieron pulls his face-cover back up. ]
FIERON (cont'd):
They'd destroy so much just to catch one person. But my work is far from done. They just give me more to do.
[ Fade to black. ]
[ INT. ISDA MEETINGROOM - DAY. : The ISDA Chairman and Theracy are seated as usual. Black Eagle is to the Chairman's right (screen left). Gravitor, Wind, Hydron, Glacier and Spectro are gathered on the opposite side of the room. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
Niryc. When Fieron first appeared, it was at a kidnapping. The hostages were his cousin and grandmother.
GRAVITOR:
Wouldn't that have made him a prime suspect for Fieron?
BLACK EAGLE:
There were plenty of relatives that would have been able to pull it off. The investigation suggested that Niryc was the least likely suspect to have made the trip; he wasn't known for traveling by himself away from his home. Most others were a lot more independent; a lot of them had bad relations with the police. The more Fieron branched out, the harder it was to be sure that any of the original suspects could have been involved.
ISDACHAIRMAN:
There is a high probability that Fieron will return to the city. Black Eagle will lead the investigation of Niryc's place of residence. The rest of you will join the Buff Brigade in watching the city for Fieron's return.
[ INT. NANNY'S HOUSE - DAY. : A broad-shouldered, sixty-to-seventy-year-old woman wearing long blue pants and a pale, multi-colored blouse sits in a brown rocking chair in the corner of a blue-carpetedd room. To her left (screen right), a kitchen with yellowish linoleum flooring is visible, the stove within arm's reach of the woman. To her right (screen left), there is a small wooden filing cabinet with a phone and some books atop it and a pin-striped sofa. There is a window behind some curtains behind the sofa, and to its other side is a door with a rectangular pane of almost opaque golden-brown blastic in it. There is a television in the foreground across from the door (on the adjacent wall), and an opening into a hallway beyond the door. ]
[ Niryc enters from the hallway, with a darker-skinned, curly-haired boy of around three on his back. Niryc walks to the sofa and sits down; the boy stands on the sofa, but doesn't let go of Niryc's neck. ]
NANNY:
You better let go of his neck, now, Allie; you're chokin' 'im.
[ The boy looks toward the woman and smiles. ]
THERACY (voice-over):
He can't be much older than me.
[ The scene rotates to show more of the room; the television sits on the floor, showing Xai confronting a blue-and-black-robed man wielding a sword with a slash mark emblazened on the hilt. Some framed photographs stand atop the TV, showing younger, shorter-haired versions of Niryc; one that looks to have been taken around age six shows Niryc wearing thick, metal-framed glasses. Beyond the television is another corner of the room, with a triangular-backed wooden set of shelves, each covered with metal-framed photographs; there are various men, women, boys, and girls, though three faces are most common--a young boy (seen between ages one and seven) with blue eyes and hair of multiple hshades of blond andsandy brown, a girl seen as old as twenty who strongly resembles the other boy (if visible, the eyes of the boy on Niryc's back match both of these), and Niryc; one photo shows Niryc around age twelve beside the pale boy (around six) and a blond-haired girl (also around six). The floor in front of the shelves are various toys--small plastic cars, trucks, and action figure versions of characters seen on television (reference episodes 2, 6 and 8). On the back wall is metal-framed bed coverd in a white blanket, atop which a chubby baby lies sleeping (his face resembles that of the not-Niryc boy from the photographs, though his hair is darker and his face is far pudgier). A window (dimmed by curtains) is behind the bed. As the view continues to rotate, the kitchen becomes visible, with a bar-esque countertop separating it from the other room. The back wall of the kitchen consists mostly of a large glass door which is partly covered by a thicker curtain. There is a trashcan in the corner between the door and the bar; out the glass door, part of a grassy lawn can be seen, with a delappidated mobile home a short distance from the door; between the door and the other building is a small fenced-in area where a brown-gold puppy sits, looking at the ground sadly. The view rotates so that another corner of the room is visible, this one dominated by a table that fills half the room, with room enough between it and the door for a pair of leafy potted plants to stand (the curtain is pulled closed enough to keep the appropriate amount of sunlight on the plants). There is an aquarium on the wall on the opposite end of the table with a single, large goldfish drifting about lazily within. ]
[ Fade through white to... ]
[ INT. ISDA BREAKROOM - DAY. : Theracy sits in the chair farthest from the door, leaning forward with her palms on her knees and her eyes closed. ]
[ Theracy sits up, wiping her burned hand on her shirt. She blinks a few times and looks around; there is noone else in the room. ]
THERACY:
All of this over someone that I could be in school with...
[ She looks toward the television, then flips open the arm of the chair, revealing a panel of buttons. She presses one, and the TV blinks to life, showing Yung confronting Zenkin in a desert area. ]
YUNG (on TV):
You shouldn't go in there.
[ On the TV, Zenkin laughs. ]
ZENKIN (on TV):
And why's that? Are you going to stop me?
YUNG (on TV):
Xai's set his and Warizan's strength's to zero. Since you're always one below Warizan, you'll die if you go inside.
ZENKIN (on TV):
What kind of fool are you to try and protect an enemy?
YUNG (on TV):
We wouldn't have to be enemies if you cared about someone besides yourself.
[ On the TV, Zenkin reaches a hand behind her back and quickly thrusts it out, hurling a knife toward Yung. Yung kicks the knife out of the air. ]
ZENKIN (on TV):
Your way of thinking will lead to your own death. If Warizan is out of the way, the Nononaughts will do my bidding!
[ On the TV, Zenkin laughs and runs off screen; the next shot shows Yung standing alone with the wind blowing through his hair; if his face is visible, he is visibly sad. ]
[ Theracy sighs. ]
THERACY:
Maybe I should start watching that show.
[ The scene on the TV fades to a "SUURI BUNSHOUDAI" title card. ]
ANOUNCER (on TV):
Suuri Bunshoudai will return in a moment.
[ The scene on the TV fades to a photograph of black-haired, green-eyed boy of fifteen or sixteen. ]
COMMENTATOR (on TV):
Startling new reports from police in the disappearance of a fifteen-year-old, tonight at six!
[ Theracy presses the button she pressed to activate the TV, and it returns to black. ]
[ Theracy folds the arm of the chair shut again, puts her hands on her knees and closes her eyes again. ]
[ Pan up; when reaching the ceiling, the view rapidly rises through it, passing through a darkened room surrounded in typical office-building cubicals before rising into the sky. The view rotates as it zooms out, overlooking the city below, then flying quickly past it (southward), rising ever higher, until only the appearance of the Mississippi River just off center tells anything about the area below. The view gradually slides and rotates until the river takes the center, then zooms in quickly. Once the river fills the screen, a large barge sails past. The view turns and races along the river, crossing below a pair of bridges before rising skyward again, finally rotating to look down at the gulf of Mexico from just east of New Orleans. ]
BB15 (Voice-over, reverb):
Yellow?
THERACY (voice-over):
It's gray if you look too closely.
BB15 (voice-over, reverb):
What?
[ Zoom out. The view rotates to look up at the sky, then starts moving rapidly past clouds (if the direction can be discerned after all the turns, the view moves north and slightly westward). ]
THERACY (voice-over):
It's like a painting...
BB15 (voice-over, reverb):
Hey, Yellow? Theracy?
[ The view zooms out and slowly rotates, focusing on an aerial view of a neighborhood with fields on the edges. Zoom in toward two mobile homes sitting on the same plot of land--the one in back can be seen to be the one from the window of Nanny's house. A layer of trees separates the trailers from the field in back and the road in front. The area between the front trailer and the road is identical to the lawn scene in the nighttime flashback in episode 2, except that it is daytime, and mid autumn by the trees. Zoom in on the lawn; Niryc walks out of the door onto the wooden ramp at the front of the trailer (reference episode 2). Niryc walks down the ramp, then turns to walk back up it. ]
THERACY (voice-over):
But paintings can't hear you.
BB15 (voice-over, reverb):
Hey!
[ Dissolve to... ]
[ INT. ISDA BREAKROOM - DAY. : Theracy's eyes snap open. BB15 stands in front of her. ]
THERACY:
Uh... sorry.
BB15:
If that was Fieron, don't let me distract you.
THERACY:
He's just... pacing.
BB15:
The chairman wants you in the meeting room to keep everything organized. You know we can't mess this one up without taking some heat for it.
THERACY (uneasily):
Yeah... of course.
[ Dissolve to... ]
[ EXT. LAWN - DAY. ]
[ Niryc walks up the ramp, then turns and walks down the stairs to the ground below. He keeps walking, then turns to walk behind the hill. He reappears from the other side of the hill, walks around it again, then turns the opposite direction and walks off screen. ]
[ EXT. END OF TRAILER - DAY. : In the background, a brick house, some apple trees and grapevines, and a patch of trees draped in thorn-covered vines spread from one side of the screen to the other. There are several meters of grass between these and Niryc, who walks into frame and faces the foreground. ]
[ Niryc looks down, and the camera follows his gaze to where a yellowjacket nest lies in the grass with a few motionless yellowjackets clinging to it. One of the yellowjackets moves its wings feebly before the view returns to Niryc's face. ]
NIRYC:
I don't have much time today. I could wait... but when will my next chance be?
[ Niryc looks up, and the camera follows his gaze into the sky until the scene is the same aerial shot of the two trailers from before, only in reverse. A streak of blue sparks shoots up from below, and Fieron flies past the camera. ]
[ EXT. ABOVE ROOFTOPS - DAY. : The edges of the scene are distorted as in a flashback. A group of BB agents wearing gliders swoop toward Fieron, who holds his ring in his hands (reference episode 2). ]
[ Small missiles fly for Fieron, and a field of blue sparks rises around his hands and upper body, reflecting the missiles, forcing all but one of the agents to dive to evade them. One BB agent gets in closer and fires his weapon. Fieron directs his spark-shield to reflect the resulting projectile, but the agent comes in under the projectile and takes hold of Fieron's ring. ]
BLACK EAGLE (voice-over):
I was so close...
[ Sparks flow from the ring and engulf both Fieron and the agent. The agent's glider catches fire before reshaping itself into Black Eagle's wings. Fieron's ring finally disappears in a sphere of white light that flows down Fieron's arms. A glowing fragment of the ring flies into the air, and the BB agent reaches up to catch it. Sparks cover him before his uniform is completely transformed to that of Black Eagle. Sparks flow freely along Black Eagle's arms and shoulders. ]
BLACK EAGLE (voice-over, cont'd):
I could have taken him then. But the power was new to me...
FIERON (muffled):
No!
BLACK EAGLE (muffled, wavering):
That's right! You couldn't keep all of it for yourself!
BLACK EAGLE (voice-over):
And the brat got to my pride.
FIERON (muffled):
You aren't giving that to your superiors.
BLACK EAGLE (muffled):
And why's that?
FIERON (muffled):
If they can make more of you, then what use will you be to them?
BLACK EAGLE (voice-over):
I didn't just listen to him... I still do!
[ Black Eagle looks at the shard, and sparks intensify around him momentarily. ]
BLACK EAGLE (muffled):
That may be true, but that doesn't mean I can't still take you.
FIERON (muffled):
It will take more than that fraction of my power to lay a hand on me.
[ Dissolve to... ]
[ INT. HELICOPTER - DAY. : Black Eagle sits alone, staring at the controls. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
I started to think it was me and not the shard of the ring.
[ Black Eagle sighs heavily, sits up, and pulls the ring shard and its chain from around his neck. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
Look at me, talking to myself over this punk! I had him against a wall! Three times! Three! Every time he got away! I fought in real battles before he started kindergarten, and he's given me power only to make a fool of me time and time again! And here I am, yelling at a helicopter over him...
[ Black Eagle clenches his fist over the shard, and it is surrounded in a bright blue glow. ]
BLACK EAGLE (quietly, menacing):
There's nowhere to run, now, Fieron. Go ahead and run back to your parents. I'll be waiting.
[ Fade to black. ]
[ Fade in to INT. CAFE - DAY. : Aluben sits alone at a table, looking at a donut hole contemplatively. Roblin sits at the same bench as before with a tall cup. ]
WIND (OS):
Well, are you gonna eat it or not?
[ Aluben looks around; Wind and Hydron, wearing loose jeans and jackets (both zipped up, though part of a white top may be visible near Wind's neck), walk toward Aluben's table. ]
ALUBEN:
Good morning, Sara and Shanan.
WIND:
Hi! Can we sit here?
ALUBEN:
Of course you can!
WIND:
Thanks! I'm going to get some coffee first; this is going to be a long day.
[ Wind turns and walks to the counter; Hydron places a newspaper on the table and takes a seat near it. ]
ALUBEN:
I heard two men talking about something in the newspaper a few minutes ago.
[ Hydron turns a page of the newspaper, revealing a black-and-white photograph of the Sears Tower. ]
HYDRON:
Was it about the tower?
ALUBEN:
Yes. They said it was probably someone that's been in the city before.
HYDRON:
Fieron has a way of coming back here.
[ Roblin looks up and looks around the room. Wind walks to the table with a tall cup and sets it down before taking a seat in front of it. ]
WIND:
Is there anything new?
HYDRON:
Not so far.
ALUBEN:
You haven't told me much about Fieron.
WIND:
Well... I'm not sure that we're allowed to.
[ Roblin looks at Aluben, Hydron and Wind uneasily. ]
ALUBEN:
Why not?
WIND:
I... don't really know. Security?
ALUBEN:
Security? Is he dangerous?
WIND:
That's one way to put it...
HYDRON:
It seems like he does whatever he wants, and noone can do anything to stop him, whether they need to or not.
ALUBEN:
Then... like that thief who attacked my home.
HYDRON:
So far as I know, Fieron hasn't killed anyone.
WIND:
He's done his share of damage.
[ Roblin shakes his head and gets up and starts walking toward the front of the room. ]
ALUBEN:
Do you think he'll come back?
WIND:
well...
[ Roblin faces the door, then steps back in dismay as Niryc walks in. ]
HYDRON:
We're supposed to watch for him.
[ Niryc jerks his head toward Hydron. ]
WIND:
Umm... Take a look over there.
[ Wind, Hydron and Aluben all look toward Niryc. ]
ALUBEN:
It's that boy that was in here before.
[ Niryc turns and walks out. ]
WIND:
Awe, come on; I haven't had enough coffee yet...
[ Wind gets up and hurries for the door. Hydron gets up and follows. Aluben puts down the donut hole he holds and stands up. ]
ALUBEN:
Wait!
[ Aluben hurries after Wind and Hydron. Roblin stares after them, growing paler than usual. ]
[ EXT. STOREFRONT - DAY. Niryc walks in quick, long steps with one hand raised near face level. ]
[ As Niryc approaches the entrance to a particular store with a "CLOSED" sign visible in the window, Fierox steps out from an alcove near the entrance and approaches Niryc. ]
NIRYC:
There's been a change of plans.
[ Cut to another area of sidewalk; Wind and Hydron run along the sidewalk. ]
WIND:
I guess he didn't know we knew.
HYDRON:
He left as soon as he saw us, but didn't before.
[ Aluben catches up to Wind and Hydron. ]
ALUBEN (slightly out of breath):
Has he already gotten away?
WIND:
Aluben? You shouldn't have followed us!
ALUBEN:
You are the only friends that I have now, and I have a power, too; I'll help however I can.
[ Fierox appears on the sidewalk ahead and growls. Wind, Hydron and Aluben stop running. ]
WIND:
The wonder fox again?
ALUBEN:
Who is this?
WIND:
Fieron's ... sidekick.
[ A faint golden aura ignites around Fierox. ]
WIND:
And it does that when it's ready to attack.
[ Hydron becomes water and rushes at Fierox. Fierox's aura intensifies; Fierox jumps out of the water, but it bends around to keep Fierox jumping, sparks visibly flowing throughout. ]
WIND:
We don't want to get close to that...
[ Wind holds out her hands, and a gust of wind catches Fierox in mid leap and throws the fox further down the sidewalk. Water-Hydron rises and takes human form. ]
HYDRON:
Fieron's probably heading for the tower. We might be able to head him off.
[ Fierox runs toward Hydron, golden aura blazing and tail streaming fire. ]
WIND:
So much for secrecy...
[ Wind unzips her jacket, revealing her uniform beneath. She holds out her hands, but Hydron touches her hand. ]
HYDRON:
We can't let Fieron escape!
[ Fierox leaps, and golden light flows from the fox's snout and front legs, sending a wave of light across the ground toward the girls and Aluben. Wind grabs Aluben's arm and flies into the air, carrying him behind her; Hydron jumps and becomes water, colliding with Fierox in the process; the golden wave discipates below. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. : Gravitor, Glacier, Spectro and BB18 stand near the outer edge of a platform overlooking the street hundreds of feet below. ]
THERACY (over radio):
Sara and Shanan ran into Fierox. Fieron's on his way.
SPECTRO:
Working on the hologram.
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - AERIAL SHOT - DAY. : The tower sways in the wind; as it does, it shimmers briefly, and holds a particular position that is noticeably far from center. The image flickers briefly. ]
[ EXT. OVER CITY - DAY. : Fieron flies through the air. ]
FIERON:
Hmm. Interesting.
[ Fieron approaches the tower. He makes a tight circle as he approaches, and stops, facing what seems to be empty space to the side of the tower. ]
FIERON:
Spectro. He almost had me this time. But there's too much wind for this space to be calm.
[ Fieron rises higher and lands on something unseen; the translucent image of the tower shimmers below Fieron, and the opaque image fades away, replaced by another where Fieron stands on a roof below the top of the tower. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. : The deck is far less crowded than before, with Spectro, Gravitor, Glacier and BB18 the only people present. ]
SPECTRO:
He figured it out.
BB18:
It still bought us time to get the tourists back inside.
[ BB18 raises a large gun. ]
BB18 (cont'd):
Spectro, can you help me get a clear shot?
SPECTRO:
Maybe, but I think he knows we're here now...
[ INT. SEARS TOWER - CHECKPOINT - DAY. : A large and noisy crowd fills the area; a pair of armed security guards stand between the crowd and a set of elevator doors. ]
[ Aluben enters, struggling to make his way through the crowd. Several shouts of "hey!" call as he pushes past people. ]
ALUBEN:
Excuse me! This is very important!
[ A security guard steps out from among the crowd and holds out an arm in Aluben's path. ]
GUARD5:
Please wait where you are, sir.
ALUBEN:
But my friends are in danger!
GUARD5:
Everyone's been called in from the observation decks. There's nothing to worry about.
ALUBEN:
I can't let them face Fieron alone...
GUARD5:
Sir, please come with me.
ALUBEN:
But...
GUARD5:
Please.
[ Guard5 gestures to the guards at the elevator and leads Aluben in their direction. ]
[ EXT. OVER CITY - DAY. : Wind flies through the air. ]
WIND:
How fast is he?!
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. ]
[ Spectro raises a hand, and the image of the tower above shimmers to near-transparency as a red light appears above. ]
BB18:
Is that him?
SPECTRO:
I'm pretty sure it's him. Unless someone else is up there putting out that much infrared.
[ Ice-spears form in each of Glacier's hands. BB18 aims his weapon at the red light. ]
BB18:
Let's give our two-in-one a try.
[ A small rocket erupts from the barrel of BB18's gun and flies up toward the light. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - ROOF - DAY. : Fieron stands observantly, glowing red. ]
FIERON:
I can't pick up anything if they keep interfering.
[ The rocket fired from BB18's gun flies up toward Fieron. Before it reaches him, a yellow-green cloud of gas discharges from it. ]
FIERON:
Think they've found my weakness, do they?
[ Fieron holds up his hands as though guarding his face, and a net of blue sparks envelops his upper body. The rocket collides with it and explodes; the tower sways a bit, and Fieron slides a foot back to keep his balance. ]
FIERON:
It seems this isn't the best place to make a stand.
[ Wind lands behind Fieron. ]
WIND:
I'll say.
[ Wind holds out her arms, and a gust of air catches Fieron in the back. Fieron jumps into the air and turns, hovering within three feet of the tower. Wind lowers her arms and breathes heavily. ]
FIERON:
Do we have to do this again?
WIND:
You're the one that came here.
FIERON:
I don't intend to stay much longer.
WIND:
Why are you doing this, Niryc?
FIERON:
Who?
WIND:
Stop playing games! We know who you are.
FIERON:
Are you sure?
[ Another rocket flies up from below. Fieron thrusts a hand downward, and a jet of blue sparks flows downward toward the rocket. The gas discharges from it, pushing it toward the tower. It rises above the roof and explodes in the air between Fieron and Wind; the tower sways more, and Wind stumbles and falls back onto the roof. The tower begins to sway back toward Fieron, and Wind begins to slip toward the edge of the roof. ]
FIERON:
You can fly, can't you?
[ Wind struggles to get to her knees. ]
WIND:
I'm a little tired after chasing you up here!
[ Glacier rises from below on a pair of ice-poles, wielding two ice-spears. He throws one toward Fieron, who swats the spear aside just as it approaches him. Fieron flies forward and lands on the roof, then turns to face Glacier. ]
FIERON:
Is this really necessary? Just give me a few minutes, and I'll be gone.
WIND:
After all you've done...
FIERON:
Which is?
WIND:
Oh, not this again...
[ Wind gets to her feet and holds out her arms toward Fieron; the tower slowly sways back as the gust of wind pushes against Fieron. ]
FIERON:
You should be more careful. Don't think I intend to fall easily.
[ Blue sparks race around Fieron's forearms. Glacier throws his other ice-spear at Fieron. Fieron brings his hands together and an explosion of blue sparks splits the ice-spear into two pieces that fall out of sight. ]
FIERON:
Since you insist!
[ Fieron extends his hands, and a wave of blue sparks blasts from him. Wind falls back; Glacier slips from his ice-poles, but manages to grab one as he falls and slide down it. Fieron takes flight. ]
[ EXT. ALONG SEARS TOWER - DAY. ]
[ Glacier slides down one of his ice-poles. Wind falls, and breathes in a panic as she holds out her arms and gradually slows. Gravitor falls up toward her and grabs her arm, slowing both of them to a stop. ]
GRAVITOR:
Are you ok?
WIND:
I think so.
[ Fieron, still glowing red, descends toward Wind and Gravitor. ]
FIERON:
Alive, I see.
GRAVITOR:
No thanks to you!
FIERON:
Short-sighted, as usual.
GRAVITOR:
Go suck a lemon.
[ Gravitor holds out his free hand, and one of Glacier's ice-poles leans toward Fieron. Fieron catches it as it approaches him. ]
FIERON:
And what, praytell, is this supposed to do?
[ A pair of ice-spears flies up toward Fieron. Fieron drops the ice-pole as he thrusts his hands downward, a blue net of sparks catching the ice-spears and sending them back downward. The ice-pole falls past Fieron and strikes Gravitor across the head, and he flies back and begins to fall. Wind flies after him. ]
[ INT. SEARS TOWER - CHECKPOINT - DAY. : Aluben stands before two security guards barring access to an elevator. ]
GUARD4:
What exactly do you know about what's going on up there?
ALUBEN:
My friends are in danger; Sara, and Charles...
GUARD4:
Last name?
ALUBEN:
Huh? Limb...berren?
GUARD4:
It looks like you're on here.
[ Guard4 Presses a button on the wall, and the elevator doors slide open. ]
GUARD4 (cont'd):
This will take you to the observation level. Good luck.
ALUBEN:
Thank you!
[ Aluben hurries into the elevator and the doors close behind him. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. ]
[ Glacier drops from the falling ice-pole and lands on the deck. ]
BB18:
We've got to get him out of the air before someone winds up falling to the street. Glacier, get a platform ready!
[ BB18 raises his weapon and fires another rocket from it. Glacier steps toward the edge of the deck and holds up his arms as a flat-topped cone of ice grows upward, point down, from his arms and shoulders. ]
[ EXT. ALONG TOWER - DAY. ]
[ A cloud of gas discharges around the rising rocket. Fieron grabs the remaining ice-pole and pushes it into the path of the rocket; the rocket explodes, blasting off the top of the ice-pole. Fieron slowly descends. ]
FIERON:
I'll have to invest in a gas-mask.
[ Gravitor falls toward Fieron. ]
WIND (OS):
Charles, wait!
[ Fieron holds up a hand, and a stream of sparks flows from it, slowing Gravitor's moving toward him, but not stopping it completely. ]
GRAVITOR:
Ever feel like you're trying to hold up the world with one hand?
FIERON:
If you are that heavy, you'll put a hole in this tower if I move. Just because you're falling toward me doesn't mean you can't miss; the moon does it often.
[ Gravitor relaxes slightly, and is pushed back by Fieron's spark-beam. ]
GRAVITOR:
Oh, fine!
[ Fieron begins to descend more quickly for a moment before slowing. ]
FIERON:
Trying to weigh me down again? Are you dropping the tower on me next?
[ INT. ELEVATOR - DAY. : Aluben watches the floor numbers anxiously; the floor number flies past 35, 36, 37, 37 and 39. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - AERIAL SHOT. : Glacier's ice-platform is at least six feet in diameter and about as high over his shoulders. Spectro stands near him, holding up the ice on one side. ]
[ Wind lands on the ice-platform, looks down, then jumps off and lands on the deck below. ]
WIND:
Could you make him stop glowing; it's distracting.
SPECTRO:
Ah, fine. Eighteen's out of ammo, anyway.
[ EXT. ALONG TOWER - DAY. : Fieron slowly descends as Gravitor hovers a few feet away. ]
GRAVITOR:
So why aren't you just blasting your way free like usual?
FIERON:
I went to all the trouble of coming up here. I'd rather not waste the trip.
[ Fieron brings his feet together and his hands at his sides, then drops rapidly. Gravitor looks after him in surprise, then dives for him. ]
[ INT. ELEVATOR - DAY. : Aluben taps the floor anxiously as the elevator passes floors 55, 56, 57, 58 and 59. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. : BB18 and Wind luck up. ]
BB18:
What's he doing?
[ Fieron kicks off of the side of the tower and flies toward Glacier's ice-platform. ]
BB18:
Toss him!
[ Spectro and Glacier tilt the ice-platform as Fieron lands on it; Fieron holds his position atop it, though with difficulty. Gravitor falls toward Fieron; Fieron jumps off of the ice and lands on the edge of the deck; Gravitor crashes into the ice; Glacier stumbles, and he and Spectro struggle to keep the ice from crushing them. Gravitor slips off of the ice and over the edge of the deck. Wind runs to the edge of the deck. ]
WIND:
Charles!
[ Fieron turns and aims a hand at the ice-platform, and a stream of sparks flows from his hand to surround the ice. Orange fire flows from Fieron's hand inside the spark-field and strikes the ice, slowly scattering water and steam as the ice shrinks. The ice is pushed over the edge of the deck. The volume of fire from Fieron's hand increases, and the entire mass of ice explodes in a cloud of steam and mist; the sparks and fire fade. ]
[ Wind jumps into the air and flies over the edge of the deck. ]
BB18:
What's she doing?
SPECTRO:
Going after Gravitor.
FIERON:
I was under the impression that a fall was relatively inconsequential to one who controls gravity.
[ Glacier gets up and hurls a thick ice-spear at Fieron. Fieron holds up a hand and a shield of blue sparks appears around it to deflect the ice-spear, which falls to the deck. Two ice-spears fly for Fieron's legs, and he jumps up and to the side to dodge, nearly falling to the deck before hovering a few inches in the air. ]
[ INT. ELEVATOR - DAY. : Aluben watches the floors pass tensely--88, 89, 90, 91, 92... ]
ALUBEN:
I didn't know how tall this tower is...
[ The elevator passes 93, 94, 95 and 96. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. ]
[ Fieron rises a few inches into the air. Blue sparks begin to travel along his body. ]
FIERON:
I couldn't help but notice that someone is missing. Is Black Eagle late again?
SPECTRO:
That doesn't matter.
FIERON:
You were waiting for me. Why would Black Eagle pass up this opportunity? The Wind girl flew after me.
[ Aluben runs onto the observation deck and looks around. ]
FIERON:
... And even this one.
[ Fieron lands. ]
FIERON (cont'd):
It seems that each time we meet, there's someone new involved.
ALUBEN:
Are you Fieron?
BB18:
What is he doing here?
SPECTRO:
Aluben, you probably shouldn't--
ALUBEN:
Where is Sara?
SPECTRO:
She went after Charles. Fieron sent him off the tower.
FIERON:
All I did was dodge his charge.
ALUBEN:
You are no better than a murderer!
FIERON:
I disagree.
[ A yellow-brown haze grows around Aluben. ]
SPECTRO:
Aluben, I don't think you want to do that...
[ Glacier throws an ice-spear at Fieron's back. Sparks intensify around Fieron and the ice-spear falls away harmlessly. ]
ALUBEN:
Be gone!
[ The cloud around Aluben flows toward Fieron. ]
FIERON:
Soon enough.
[ Sparks fall out of the field surrounding Fieron, and the cloud around him ignites in an explosion that causes the deck to shake. Once the light clears, Fieron is standing on the deck with his feet in a more battle-ready stance. ]
FIERON:
Interesting.
BB18:
Don't do that again; you'll damage the tower!
FIERON:
I couldn't help but notice that noone has answered my question.
[ Aluben holds up his fists. ]
ALUBEN:
What do you want?
FIERON:
For starters... I want to know why Black Eagle isn't here. You seem to think you've figured out who I am... his absence is the stranger in light of that.
BB18:
He's taking care of something else. Now, are you going to come quietly?
FIERON:
What kind of business?
BB18:
I hope that isn't a no.
[ Fieron rises into the air. ]
FIERON:
Tell me where Black Eagle is. Only a few places will get you a "no".
BB18:
What?
FIERON:
You haven't read me my rights or stated any charges. I don't consider it a crime to refuse your request. Where is Black Eagle?
[ Spectro steps back. An image of Black Eagle flies into view from below. ]
BB18:
What the...
BLACK EAGLE (over radio):
I'm right here.
FIERON (bemused):
Are you? Late, then?
[ Fieron floats toward Black Eagle. ]
FIERON:
Tell me, what kept you?
BLACK EAGLE (over radio):
Your fox was causing trouble on the streets. Someone had to calm it down.
FIERON:
Is that so?
[ Fieron lands on the deck and extends a hand toward Spectro. Glacier steps forward and gauntlets of ice form over his forearms. A stream of sparks flows from Fieron's hand, and Glacier catches them with his ice-gauntlets, though he is pushed back. ]
ALUBEN:
Stop!
[ Aluben charges for Fieron as a translucent nimbus forms around him. As Aluben gets closer, he raises an arm, and the cloud flows into the spark-beam near Fieron. As it hits the beam, it ignites in a flare around Fieron's hand. A fiery aura ignites around Fieron as more of the gas comes at him and ignites. ]
FIERON:
Has it become tradition that whenever you find a new member, he has to fight me?
[ INT. ISDA MEETINGROOM - DAY. : Theracy, the ISDAChairman and BB15 are in their usual positions. ]
[ Theracy's eyes open slowly. ]
THERACY:
But...
BB15:
What is it?
THERACY:
... Nothing.
[ Reflections of Theracy's face appear in her eyes. ]
EYE-THERACIES (voice-over):
He doesn't know you exist. Don't act surprised.
[ Theracy blinks, and the reflections in her eyes are gone. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - OBSERVATION DECK - DAY. : Fieron is bathed in fire as gas continues to flow from Aluben toward him and ignite around him. ]
FIERON:
This is where I'd expect Black Eagle to join in.
SPECTRO:
Uh Oh...
[ The fire around Fieron grows, then flows toward Aluben, throwing him off of his feet. Aluben yells as he is flung through the air and over the edge of the deck. Fieron, now with no visible aura, flies for the image of Black Eagle in the air, flying through it without resistance. ]
FIERON:
Nice try, Spectro.
BB18:
Fieron! You're charged with--
[ The image of Black Eagle fades away as Fieron is engulfed in blue sparks; Fieron and his sparks streak away. ]
BB18:
... Speeding.
[ BB18 sighs. ]
[ EXT. SEARS TOWER - ABOVE STREET - DAY. : Wind and Gravitor slowly descend. ]
[ Wind grabs Gravitor around the chest and their descent slows. ]
WIND:
Don't do that again!
GRAVITOR:
Yeah... Sorry. Won't happen again.
[ They slowly rise. Wind releases Gravitor and he continues to rise beside her. ]
WIND:
I wouldn't want to fall a quarter of this distance.
GRAVITOR:
Yeah. Just because I couldn't fall any faster doesn't mean I could slow down so easily. You think we can get an updraft, here?
[ Aluben's scream echoes from above, gradually growing louder. ]
WIND:
That sounds like Aluben!
GRAVITOR:
What's he doing screaming from a thousand feet in the air?
WIND:
I don't know; let's just get to him!
[ Wind flies upward. ]
GRAVITOR:
Hey! I can only fall, not fly, remember?
[ Gravitor sighs. ]
GRAVITOR (cont'd):
Falling toward you, then.
[ Shot from above. Aluben falls. Wind flies up from below and catches him. ]
WIND:
Are you ok?
[ Aluben catches his breath. Gravitor falls up toward them, and keeps rising before falling back toward Wind and slowing. ]
GRAVITOR:
Hey, guys.
WIND:
Let's find some place where the ground isn't a hundred stories below.
[ EXT. STOREFRONT - DAY. ]
[ Roblin approaches a group of three pedestrians who are stopped on the sidewalk. Roblin stops behind them. Ahead, Fierox is forced down the sidewalk by a great wave of water. ]
PEDESTRIAN:
What is that?
ROBLIN:
You might want to step out of the way.
[ The pedestrians look toward Roblin, then step toward the nearby wall; Roblin follows suit as Fierox is flung past them. ]
[ Fierox lands in a partial crouch, ears perking up. ]
[ Wide shot: above, a mass of blue sparks streaks by. ]
[ Fierox turns away from the water and runs after the sparks. Water-Hydron slips off of the sidewalk and across the street. A car passes, and once it is gone, Hydron stands where the water was. Fierox runs into the street and leaps into the air. Fierox is surrounded in golden light, landing on top of a passing car, then jumping into the air and flying out of sight. ]
HYDRON:
He's left again.
[ EXT. FOREST ROAD - DAY. : A winding, recently-paved road curves between hills and trees. The trees grow thinner toward the foreground, where the road is straightest. ]
[ The sound of a helicopter in flight grows steadily louder. A shadow appears over the road, and a black helicopter descends to hover above the treetops. The side of the helicopter opens, and Black Eagle jumps out; his wings ignite as he goes, and he glides through the air. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
It won't be long now.
[ EXT. FRESHMARKET - DAY. : A small building with "BIG AL'S" written on the front sits on a streetcorner. Behind the store, the land becomes grass, and some trees are visible in the distance. In front of the building is a canopied fuel station. Black Eagle stands atop the canopy. ]
[ A green minivan pulls out from under the canopy and drives off in the direction of the trees (staying on the road). ]
[ Zoom in. Black Eagle watches the street intently. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
He's running late. They'd've called me if they'd caught him.
FIERON (OS):
As I thought.
[ Black Eagle looks up. Fieron lands on the opposite side of the canopy; Black Eagle turns to face him. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
What brings you here?
FIERON:
You weren't invited here.
BLACK EAGLE:
I have plenty of authorization. But since you're here, that doesn't matter.
FIERON:
I'm asking you to leave.
BLACK EAGLE:
I'll leave when I'm good and ready, renegade!
[ Black Eagle's wings ignite and he flies for Fieron. Fieron jumps into the air, kicking at Black Eagle's face as he goes. Black Eagle punches Fieron's foot aside and charges upward. Fieron flies to the side, until he hovers over the building below. Black Eagle holds out both hands; his fists glow and crackle electricly. Narrow beams of light and sparks blast from both of Black Eagle's fists, converging on Fieron from Either side. Fieron flies at Black Eagle in a streak of sparks. The sparks fade when Fieron is below one of Black Eagle's arms. Fieron takes hold of one of Black Eagle's fire-wings and flies higher, pulling Black Eagle with him. ]
[ Aerial shot. Fieron swings Black Eagle around by his wing; previously-seen trailers and houses are visible in the distance (the direction of the grassy side of the store). Black Eagle snarls as his fire-wing tears in two and he goes flying. Fieron holds up the portion of the wing in his hand and reshapes it into a ball of fire. Fieron throws the fireball after Black Eagle. ]
[ Shot from the side of the store: Black Eagle spins through the air one-wingedly, flying toward a field across and further along the street. Fieron's fireball catches him in the back as he crashes to the ground, sending up a cloud of fire in the tall grass where he lands. ]
[ Fieron hovers above the street, head held high. ]
FIERON:
If this is how it must be then I will leave. Hence forth, I will establish my security against your idiocy.
[ Fieron looks down, but not toward Black Eagle. Then he turns and flies away. ]
[ On the ground, Black Eagle pulls himself out of the grass fire, wings no longer visible. He gets to his feet and places a hand on the shard on its chain around his neck. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
Made of fire... it was made of fire, and he tore it in two.
[ Black Eagle growls. His wings ignite, showing no signs of the damage from Fieron's tearing. ]
BLACK EAGLE:
Run away, then. Coward. Coward!
[ Pan up. ]
BLACK EAGLE (shouting):
You can't run! Your deeds will follow you wherever you go!
[ Zoom out until the view slides to an aerial shot of the Mississippi river. ]
THERACY (voice-over):
Yell all you want. He won't hear you.
[ Fieron flies by. ]
THERACY (voice-over):
And you'll never hear him.
FIERON:
We're all careless. If the game is to be between us, then I will prepare for them. Eoce can wait.
[ Fade to black. ]
8:13AM 3/7/2010
